This summer, Spencer Lazary and I will continue our series with more potential free agent targets that could be on the market on July 1st.

The Big Show

Today, we look at 7-year vet Ryan Lindgren.

Target: Ryan Lindgren - LD - Age: 27 - 7 Years Experience

Lindgren was drafted in the 2nd round by Boston in 2016. He was traded to the New York Rangers in 2018 in the Rick Nash trade that sent him to the Bruins. Lindgren suddenly became a top-4 defenseman for New York, where he would spend the next six-plus seasons. On March 1 this year, he was traded to the Colorado Avalanche to help them with their playoff push.

Stats

Lindgren played 72 games for the Rangers and Avalanche this past season. He scored 4 goals and 22 points while maintaining an even rating. He is averaging 21 points per 82 games played for his career.

He has 50 playoff games to his résumé, which includes 3 goals and 14 points. he's also a plus-16 in 50 playoff games.

Previous Salary

Lindgren signed a 1 year, $4,500,000 contract with the New York Rangers in July of 2024. Contract experts put his next deal at around $4 million per season for three years.

Realistic Chances Of A Signing: Warm

If the Blue Jackets can't re-sign Ivan Provorov, I could see Don Waddell making a big push for Lindgren. He's a left-shot defenseman, and the Jackets have a few of those, but some of them may not be coming back, so why wouldn't Waddell be trying to sign another?

It's no secret that he wants to revamp the defense a tad, and Lindgren would make a fine addition to the D-corps. With Werenski, Mateychuk, and possibly Harris, while adding Lindgren, the left side would be pretty solid. Lindgren has a lot of good experience and could help lead.
