Which teams could look to acquire Voronkov?
Columbus Blue Jackets forward Dmitri Voronkov is right back in the rumor mill during the early stages of the 2026-27 season.
The Fourth Period recently reported that the Blue Jackets have made Voronkov available for trade.
Voronkov has been no stranger to the rumor mill, as he has been discussed as a trade candidate for a long time now. The 6-foot-5 forward could use a fresh start, and this is especially so when noting that he has already been healthy scratched this season.
While Voronkov has had a quiet start to the season, posting two assists in six games, his past success could make him a popular trade target around the NHL. He has shown that he can be an impactful power forward when playing at his best.
Because of this, let's look at three teams that could try to acquire Voronkov from the Blue Jackets.
Anaheim Ducks
The Ducks could be an intriguing team to watch when it comes to Voronkov. They are having a tough start to the season, as they have a 4-5-0 record and have lost each of their four games. They also could use another winger in their top nine due to their off-season departures. Because of this, it would make sense for a struggling team like Anaheim to take a gamble on a player like Voronkov.
Tampa Bay Lightning
One of the Lightning's most notable needs is another middle-six winger. They have had trouble finding a winger to play on their second line Jake Guentzel and Brayden Point. Due to this, Voronkov could be an interesting buy-low trade target for Tampa Bay to consider. If he regained his 2024-25 form, where he had 23 goals and 47 points in 73 games with Columbus, he would be a nice pickup for a team like the Lightning.
Ottawa Senators
The Senators could be another team to keep an eye on with Voronkov. They recently lost William Eklund to injury, and he is expected to be out for 10 to 12 weeks. With this, it would be understandable if the Senators are looking to add another forward. With Voronkov available, he could be a good fit on Ottawa's roster.
