Stop me, if you have heard this before.
Columbus Blue Jackets' Kirill Marchenko is on fire.
Sound familiar? Yeah, I thought so.
After a shaky start as a club, the Blue Jackets have managed to turn it around and Marchenko has led the charge.
In the first six games of the season, he has scored five goals and two assists for seven points. That includes a five-game point streak and two game winning-goals.
There have been times in the game, where he looks very dominant. Almost like he takes over the entire game and the opposition can't stop him. He just plays so well, it is incredible to watch.
Columbus' head coach spoke about Marchenko after the game against Tampa Bay, here it is what he said.
“You’ve seen probably at the end, he was on the ice to defend, and we need him to use his skill set in all different areas defensively,” Evason said. “We want him to score goals, which he does, but we need him to continue to have that competitiveness, that two-way game that he can be on the ice in all situations. He’s done that, and he’s getting rewarded obviously with goals as well.”
If Marchenko can continue on at this pace, he will soon be considered to be one of the elite wingers in the NHL. Which some may argue that he already should, and Id have to agree with that.
