The Columbus Blue Jackets have placed Christián Jaroš on waivers for the purpose of contract termination.
Jaroš signed a one-year, two-way contract on July 1, but after failing to make the Blue Jackets, his time with the organization is over. He didn't play in any preseason games, and there was a report that he took time away to be with his wife for the birth of their child.
He has played in 94 NHL games, recording 14 points. In the AHL, he has suited up for 90 games and collected 34 points. He also spent the last three seasons in the KHL before signing with the Blue Jackets.
This is an interesting move considering who is currently taking part in the Cleveland Monsters’ training camp. There is not a ton of NHL depth for the Blue Jackets at the AHL level after the loss of Jaroš.
As of right now, the Monsters have seven blue liners on their roster: Ole Julian Bjorgvik-Holm, Corson Ceulemans, Will MacKinnon, Caleb MacDonald, Dysin Mayo, Guillaume Richard, and Stanislav Svozil.
Now, without Jaroš in the organization, Mayo likely becomes the best call-up option for the Blue Jackets.
