The Columbus Blue Jackets have announced that they signed forward Hudson Fasching to a one-year, two-way contract.
Fasching, 30, played 43 games with the New York Islanders last season, recording two goals and two assists for four points. His career-best production came in 2022-23 when he posted 19 points in 49 games with the Islanders.
He has been a bit of a journeyman in the NHL. Fasching spent three seasons with the Buffalo Sabres from 2015-18, then moved on to the Arizona Coyotes from 2020-22 before joining the Islanders for three years from 2022-25. Across his career, he has tallied 17 goals and 23 assists for 40 points in 175 games.
He will now look to make an impact in training camp with the Blue Jackets and push for a roster spot. If not, he’ll begin the season with the Cleveland Monsters in the American Hockey League (AHL).
Blue Jackets general manager Don Waddell had this to say in the team’s press release:
"Hudson Fasching is a hard-working, responsible winger with size who plays with a great deal of energy," said Waddell. "His high character, experience and versatility strengthens our organizational depth up front and we’re happy to welcome him to the Blue Jackets.”
Fasching is a solid depth addition for Columbus. He is unlikely to produce big numbers at the NHL level, but he gives the team a reliable call-up option who can slot in on the fourth line when the team needs him.
