The Columbus Blue Jackets have decided to run without a captain for the 2026-27 season.
The choice comes as many fans assumed it would be one of Zach Werenski, Charlie Coyle, or Mathieu Olivier.
Rick Bowness has been asked a few times about it, and he would always say that they knew what they were doing, and would announce it soon.
He has also made the comment that "We want everyone in the room to have a voice, not just one guy." He said that he wants the young guys in the room to have a voice too, not just the older players.
Players will rotate the A's except for Werenski, who will always wear the A. Olivier and Coyle will wear the A's at home during October, while Monahan and Sillinger will wear them on the road. Bowness says that in November, those will change.
This is 100% the correct decision in my opinion for this particular version of the CBJ.
The "C" on the sweater is iconic in hockey, but I believe it to be a tad overrated.
