Columbus has claimed forward Zach Aston-Reese off of the waiver wire today. He was put on waivers by the Vegas Golden Knights. He is signed through the 24-25 season at $775k.
Aston-Reese is the veteran of 310 games and has 80 points. He has an 82-game average of 21 points.
He spent last season with the Detroit Red Wings organization. He played only three games with Detroit while playing 61 games for Grand Rapids of the AHL.
GM Don Waddell says about Aston-Reese, “Zach Aston-Reese is a smart and versatile player that can play any of the forward positions." “He brings over 300 games of NHL experience to our lineup and will provide additional depth to our group up front.”
He spent the first five years of his career with Metro rival Pittsburgh, where he scored 29 goals and totaled 62 points.
The claiming of Aston-Reese comes on the heels of the Jackets losing Boone Jenner and Dmitri Voronkov to a major injury.
