Columbus Stat Pak: Where Do The CBJ Rank?

The curse of Irish Broadway has again reared its ugly head this season. From constant injuries to bad luck to poor play in general, 2023-24 has been more of the same from the City of Columbus' beloved Blue Jackets.

Let's take a look at the stats through 45 games.

    Record - 14-22-9 - 37 Points

    Leading Scorer - 29 - Johnny Gaudreau - 7-22-29 - 11 PP points

    Goals - 14 - Kirill Marchenko

    Assists - 24 - Zach Werenski

Rookie Scoring - 25 - Adam Fantilli sits 4th in rookie scoring and 2nd on the CBJ in points.

    Goals For - 133 - 23rd - 2.68 per 60

    Goals Against - 168 - 31st - 3.06 per 60

Power Play - 14.8% - 25th - Much improved from the first few weeks of the season.

Penalty Kill - 79.8% - 18th - This number fell off a cliff when Boone Jenner and Sean Kuraly went down. These guys are back now, so here's hoping this gets better.

    PIMs - 367- 7th - They're fairly disciplined despite everything that's going on.

    Shots per Game - 29.6 - 22nd

    Shots Against - 34.0 - 30th

    Faceoff Win % - 47.5% - 25th

    Shots Blocked - 891 - 5th

    Hits Given - 666 - 29th

    Hits Taken - 578 - 1st (fewest)

    Takeaways From - 261 - 28th (per Moneypuck.com)

    Takeaways To - 267 - 8th (per Moneypuck.com)

    Giveaways To - 244 - 1st (per Moneypuck.com)

    Defensive Zone Giveaways To - 124 - 1st (per Moneypuck.com)

vs Division - 3-10-3 - They've not beaten a team more than once.

vs Rest of Conference - 6-7-3 - They went 2-1 against the Toronto Maple Leafs and are the only team in the East they've beaten more than once.

vs Out of Conference - 5-5-3

The Jackets currently sit 8th in the Metro, 15th in the East, and 28th in the league with 37 points, and a points % of .411.

This definitely wasn't the plan in 23-24, and this disaster of a season has only led to heartache among fans and people who follow the team.
