Columbus To Activate Boone Jenner From IR, Send Rookie David Jiricek To Cleveland
The Blue Jackets are expected to announce the return of Captain Boone Jenner from IR.
The Jackets Captain suffered a broken jaw on December 8th against the St. Louis Blues that has sidelined him since.
According to the practice lines on Thursday, he will center a line with Adam Fantilli and Jack Roslovic as his wingers. This move caused ripples among the CBJ fanbase, as they didn't want to see Fantilli move away from the center position.
Pascal Vincent has been under fire from fans for some of the decisions he's made regarding who is playing where and when, so this didn't sit well. Fantilli had managed 9 points since the Jackets lost Jenner to injury, most if not all of those coming while he played center.
With Jenner coming back, and Kuraly, who came back earlier in the week, this should help a slumping PK. It should also help getting back a pair of proud, veteran leaders.
The Jackets will also send rookie David Jiříček to Cleveland of the AHL. The young defenseman has played in 36 games for Columbus and has 1 goal and 9 points.
A baffling move by the Blue Jackets who are willing to let go of Elvis Merzlikins to see "what Daniil Tarasov has", but won't do the same with David Jiricek.
Goalie Spencer Martin has also been placed on waivers for the purpose of assigning him to Cleveland. Martin is 3-8-1 this season for Columbus.
