Elvis Merzlikins Leads Latvia To A Second Straight Win In As Many Days, Defeating France In Overtime

For the second straight day, Columbus Blue Jackets goalie Elvis Merzlikins has led his country to victory, this time against France.

Yesterday's game against Poland and today against France had similar endings. In both games, Latvia gave up a late goal to force OT, and in both games, Latvian forward Kaspars Daugavins won the game in overtime.

Against France, Merzlikins stopped 27 of 29 French shots for a save % of .931. Far better than yesterday's .809 save %.

Latvia now sits atop the Group B standings with four points and two overtime wins. With teams like the USA, Sweden, and Slovakia in their group, they're going to need Elvis to play really well to win games.
