Former Columbus Blue Jackets defensemen Samuel Kňažko has signed a multi-year deal with HC Vítkovice of the Czech Extraliga.
Kňažko, 22, has been in the Blue Jackets' organization since he was drafted in 2020. However, things didn’t materialize for him. Unfortunately, he only played in two NHL games and recorded zero points. Throughout his AHL career, he appeared in 149 games and scored seven goals and 42 assists for 49 points.
Kňažko was thought to be a good depth defenseman for the Blue Jackets. However, now that he’s heading overseas, he’ll look to kick-start his career into what it should have been.
With him being just 22 years old, there's still a chance he returns to the NHL at some point, potentially after this contract. That said, there’s also the possibility he stays in his home country of Czechia for the remainder of his career.
