Former Cleveland Monster Signs PTO With Predators cover image

Former Cleveland Monster Dylan Gambrell has signed a professional tryout (PTO) with the Nashville Predators, according to Anthony Di Marco.

Gambrell, 29, spent the 2024-25 season with the Monsters, the AHL affiliate of the Columbus Blue Jackets. In 54 games, he recorded 13 goals and 12 assists for 25 points, along with 32 penalty minutes.

The year before, he played for the Toronto Marlies, the AHL affiliate of the Toronto Maple Leafs, and put up 36 points in 66 games during the 2023-24 season.

His last time in the NHL came with the Ottawa Senators in 2022-23. He spent two seasons with the organization but struggled to make an impact. In his first year with Ottawa, he managed seven points in 63 games, followed by 10 points in 60 games the next season.

Gambrell began his NHL career with the San Jose Sharks and spent parts of four seasons with the team. Across his career so far, he has played 233 NHL games, scoring 17 goals and 23 assists for 40 points.

He now heads to Nashville hoping for another shot at the NHL. If he is unable to secure a deal with the Predators, this PTO could still lead to an AHL contract elsewhere.
