The 7th rounder could never catch on in Columbus

Former 7th round pick of the Blue Jackets Calvin Thurkauf has been named Captain of HC Lugano. See HC Lugano's press release here.

Thurkauf was drafted in 2016 by the CBJ and played only 3 games in his NHL career, totaling zero points. He did play 154 games for Cleveland of the AHL from 2017-2020, scoring 22 goals and 52 points. In 2020-21 he went back to Europe to play in the Swiss National League.

The CBJ have had a few notable names play in the Swiss league including current goalie Elvis Merzlikins and Ohio native Dan Fritsche. Merzlikins playing for Lugano and Fritsche playing for the ZSC Lions.

    Congrats to Calvin.
