Johnny and Matthew Gaudreau's father, Guy Gaudreau, threw out the first pitch for the Philadelphia Phillies at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia earlier this week.
His intention was to help spread awareness for the Gaudreau Family 5K Run, which takes place on May 31 at Washington Lake Park in Sewell, New Jersey.
It was a meaningful moment for Guy, who wore a T-shirt with his sons' numbers underneath a Phillies jersey.
Tragically, Johnny and Matthew lost their lives this past summer after being struck by an alleged drunk driver, who has since been charged with two counts of death by auto.
Johnny, a member of the Columbus Blue Jackets, continued to be honoured throughout the season by NHL teams and even at the international level with Team USA.
If you haven't yet, make sure to check out the first annual Gaudreau Family 5K Run/Walk. My colleague Jason Newland has been leading the way on that from the start. You can find all the details here.
