Marc Bergevin Rumored To Be In Consideration To Become The Next Columbus GM

The Columbus Blue Jackets could be close to naming their next General Manager.
Dennis Bernstein, LA Chapter Chair of the PHWA, today named Marc Bergevin as being in consideration for the vacant Columbus Blue Jackets GM position.
The Jackets have been completely silent on their GM search, as no candidate's names have been leaked to this point.
Bergevin has a ton of experience, mostly with big market teams. He was the AGM of the Chicago Blackhawks for a year. And then he took on the big job. From May 2, 2012, to Nov. 28, 2021, he was the Executive Vice President and General Manager of his hometown Montreal Canadiens, a team he never got to play for.
He is currently a senior advisor to the General Manager of the LA Kings.
Bergevin was fired on Nov. 28, 2021, but his tenure included some huge signings and trades. Some of the signings he made were Carey Price, PK Subban, and Nick Suzuki. He acquired names like Eric Staal, Josh Anderson, and Jonathan Drouin. Names like Cole Caufield, Jesperi Kotkaniemi, and Mikhail Sergachev are who he's drafted.
Some Habs fans say he left the franchise in ruins when he left. The 24-time Stanley Cup Champions made an improbable run to the Cup final in 2021. Since he left, Montreal has finished 8th in the Atlantic all three years. They have gotten better every year in terms of points, however.
Could Bergevin do a better job for a small market team? Is he the experienced GM they want and need? Some CBJ fans say this is a swing and a miss, while others like the experience he brings.
Other rumored candidates are Mark Hunter, Mathieu Darche, and Chris MacFarland.
One way or another the Jackets need to hire a GM post-haste.
