Pyotr Andreyanov, the 18-year-old goaltender selected by the Columbus Blue Jackets in the first round of this month's NHL draft, has officially signed a 5-year extension with  CSKA Moskva.

Per CSKA Moskva:  Hockey Club CSKA and goalkeeper Pyotr Andrejanov have signed a new contract. The agreement is for five years, until the end of the 2029/30 season. The 18-year-old hockey player is a graduate of the CSKA Hockey School. In 2023, he made his debut for the Red Army, in the Youth Hockey League he has 34 wins in 63 matches, 93.2% of saved shots and five shutouts. In the 2024/25 season, Pyotr took part in the MHL Challenge Cup, entered the top three goalkeepers in the league, and was also included in the CSKA main team's roster for KHL matches several times. In addition, he has repeatedly played for the Russian junior and youth teams.

Don Waddell made a comment after the draft, that they had seen Andreyanov work out at a camp in Florida, and just had to have him, and since they didn't have a second or third round pick, they chose to get him while they could.

Many fans wondered why they would choose a player that wouldn't be over for five years, but there is a chance that he could come sooner.

The goalie depth for Columbus looks strong in the future.
