With the Columbus Blue Jackets and the Dallas Stars facing off tonight and the 2025 NHL Trade Deadline only 11 days away, it’s a good time to revisit the trade history between the two clubs.
In total, there have been five trades, but none since 2007. Their first trade came on Aug. 29, 2001, and their last was on June 23, 2007.
Here’s a breakdown of their trade history:
Blue Jackets Received: Grant Marshall
Stars Received: 2003 2nd-round pick (#33 - Loui Eriksson)
Blue Jackets Received: Rights to Evgeny Petrochinin
Stars Received: Kirk Muller
Blue Jackets Received: 2002 1st-round pick (#20 - Daniel Paille)
Stars Received: Ron Tugnutt & 2002 2nd-round pick (#32 - Janos Vas)
Blue Jackets Received: Darryl Sydor
Stars Received: Mike Sillinger & 2004 2nd-round pick (#34 - Johan Fransson)
Blue Jackets Received: 2007 4th-round pick (#94 - Maksim Mayorov)
Stars Received: 2007 5th-round pick (#128 - Austin Smith), 2007 5th-round pick (#129 - Jamie Benn) & 2007 5th-round pick (#149 - Michael Neal)
Blue Jackets Received: Lauri Korpikoski
Stars Received: Dillon Heatherington
On paper, the biggest deal was the trade that sent Mike Sillinger to the Stars in exchange for Sydor. However, the 2007 trade was equally significant, as the Stars used one of the acquired picks to select Jamie Benn.
When will the next trade between these two clubs happen? Could a deal be made this season?
