Severson was asked right away about why they hadn't been able to finish off games in overtime. Severson responded by saying that since he'd been injured and been able to watch from above, he's noticed that it seems "we're a little too passive sometimes, we kind of let the game come to us and it's almost like we're not trying to win the game, we're almost trying not to lose. We have to be more aggressive in my opinion and really look to get that next goal when we're up by one and try to go up by two, and not give the high-end skilled talented players that are going to be on the ice in those key situations down the stretch, to give them time and space to tie the game." "It's definitely a work in progress," Severson says.
Severson says, "Obviously it's been frustrating." "We're going to be a winner, sooner than later," He added.
He was also asked if they are playing a different structure when they have a lead. He said that he still thinks they're being "too Passive" and they're "packing it in a little too much." Severson says "We can't be afraid to put a little more pressure on the guys."
"The script is going to flip sooner or later."
HC Pascal Vincent had similar comments in the last day or so as well. So it seems that the "passive" feeling is being felt by everyone. Is this what they needed to find? Why are they just now finding it? With back-to-back games tonight and tomorrow, they may get their chance to find out how aggressive they can be against two good teams.
