Everything you may have missed this week

Usually, we do a weekly recap on Sunday, but since there was a game to cover and some player injury news, we decided to push it back a day. So, in case you missed anything we got you covered. There were plenty of games, news, and notes to talk about.

Follow the links below for stories from the past week.

Load management isn't new to sports or even the NHL, but it's rarely talked about or noticed in hockey. Leo Carlsson, the 2nd overall pick in the 2023 NHL draft, is being limited in his games played by the Anaheim Ducks. Is this a good thing, or a bad thing?

Last week, Patrik Laine was placed on IR after Rasmus Andersson of the Calgary Flames hit Laine with an illegal charge. The Jackets are calling it upper body, and he is week to week. In response to him being on IR, the CBJ recalled Dmitri Voronkov to the big club.

The Anaheim Ducks came into Nationwide Arena amidst a power outage in downtown Columbus. The CBJ powerplay had a power outage of its own on this night, going 1/7. Dmitri Voronkov was scratched in this one as the Ducks won in overtime. It was a tough loss for the young Jackets. News, notes, and reactions can be seen here.

The NHL debuted a new stat site called EDGE this week. There are a lot of stats on the site that are very interesting and not talked about a lot. One CBJ player is on there as being one of the fastest players in the league at speed bursts. Check it out here

Yegor Chinakhov was activated off of IR and assigned to Cleveland. He's been dealing with a back issue.

John Davidson took to the radio in Columbus and offered an update on goalie Daniil Tarasov. Tarasov is out with a knee injury.

The Jackets played an away game in Montreal on Thursday. Kent Johnson was scratched and Dmitri Voronkov made his NHL debut. It didn't end well as the CBJ lost in OT. The three takeaways can be seen here. You can also take one last look at the stats from that game here.

The New York Islanders came to town on Saturday night. With Kirill Marchenko scratched, Semyon Varlamov came in and shut the Jackets down 2-0. It was the Jackets 2nd shutout on the young season. You can take a final look at the stats here.

On Sunday, HC Pascal Vincent gave an update on injured star Patrik Laine, and it's not what CBJ fans want to hear.
