Waddell is set to meet with CBJ's pending UFA's except for Mathieu Olivier
According to Dobber Sports, Columbus Blue Jackets' GM Don Waddell has confirmed that the organization will be meeting with their pending UFA players about their trade deadline plans; except Mathieu Olivier.
Olivier has been a bright spot for the Blue Jackets so far this season and Waddell appears to value his role on the team.
In 32 games this season, he has eight goals and four assists for 12 points. He also has 115 hits (9th in the NHL) and 60 PIMS on the season.
Waddell confirmed on the Toronto-based radio show that he intends to re-sign Olivier after this season.
The Blue Jackets' other pending UFA's:
- Sean Kuraly
- Justin Danforth
- James van Riemsdyk
- Kevin Labanc
- Zach Aston-Reese
- Ivan Provorov
- Dante Fabbro
- Jack Johnson
- Jake Christiansen
- Dylan Gambrell
There have been reports that Provorov would be interested in staying long-term with the Blue Jackets. There could also be a chance that Fabbro could seek an extension based on how he has performed since joining the club.
As for the rest of them, they will likely be moved as trade deadline rental which will allow the Blue Jackets to continue to load up on draft capital.
What's Next - The Blue Jackets return home tonight to play the New Jersey Devils.
