Columbus Blue Jackets' defensement Zach Werenski has extended his point streak to 22 games. In the game last night against the Chicago Blackhawks, he recorded a three point night including a breakaway goal.
Werenski's streak now places him tied for third all time in longest home point streaks amongst NHL defensemen. He is tied with Phil Housley (1991-92) for the third-longest streak by a defenseman. Bobby Orr (1974-75) holds the record at 25 games.
Werenski is coming off of being the leading scorer of the 4-Nations Face-Off tournament and returned to the level of play he was playing at before the tournament.
He is now just one point back of Cale Makar (63) for the league leader in points amongst defensemen in the NHL.
