Zach Werenski Has Multi-Point Game As Americans Avenge 2023 Loss To Latvia

The Latvians didn't make it easy on the Americans. The USA went up 4-1 early in the third period, but Latvia would come storming back by scoring a pair of goals in 16 seconds to pull to within one. Cole Caufield would add the 5th goal for Team USA with 11 minutes left to give them some breathing room. The final score was 6-3. 

Zach Werenski scored a pretty goal in the first period to put the Americans up 2-0. He also assisted on Matt Boldy's goal in the third. His two points now give him 7 overall. 

Johnny Gaudreau was held scoreless in this game, as was Gavin Brindley. 

Elvis Merzļikins didn't get the start for the Latvians on Tuesday. Latvia has failed to advance to the playoffs, ending their run. Merzļikins finishes the tournament with a save of .826% and a GAA of 4.80.
