Columbus Blue Jackets defenseman Zach Werenski made his usual appearance on 97.1 The Fan's Hockey & Hounds segment to talk about his team.

Werenski was asked about how he thought goalies Elvis Merzļikins and Daniil Tarasov were progressing so far this season. "Yeah, I think they've been really good. Obviously, when we don't play well in front of them, it doesn't help them at all. It's kind of what happened in Winnipeg and Wash(ington), but I think the other games they've been really good for us. They stood tall, they made the saves they need to make, and they made some extra ones as well. So, we have a lot of confidence in those guys, whichever one is playing that night, it doesn't really matter. I think we feel like we can win the game. I think those guys are doing well for us."

He was also asked about the power play changes that have been made by the new coaching staff. Werenski says, "I think for our power play we just have to keep it simple. I think on the first one last night we tried to force the seam, it just wasn't there. I think later in the game we had some more chances, we were more direct, I was shooting a couple, Chinny shot a couple. But I think at the end of the day, it has to be creative, and I think when we're stagnant and we're standing there, and we're just not moving, I think it's easy for a penalty kill. So I think for us we have to have more movement forward, try to confuse the penalty kill a little bit more, and we just have to bear down and put pucks in the net. Obviously, last night it could've been something that got us going and we could've won the game. It's unfortunate when you don't get one on the power play when you have chances, but I think there were some good things that we can kind of take forward with us moving forward."

Zach also talks about the message from Head Coach Dean Evason after dropping three games in a row. You can listen to the full interview below.
