The CBJ wasted no time getting Fantilli signed
On Wednesday, June 28th, Adam Fantilli was drafted by the Blue Jackets 3rd overall, and on July 1st, he signed his first pro contract.
The Columbus Blue Jackets announced today that they have signed Adam Fantilli to a three-year entry level contract. Fantilli will make 950k per season. Also, the CBJ have said he will wear the #11 jersey, last worn by Kevin Stenlund, and famously worn by CBJ fan favorite Matt Calvert. He got to show off his new number today at his introductory press conference.
At his contract signing, his father Giuliano, and former Michigan teammate and CBJ second round pick Gavin Brindley was there to witness the signing, alongside AGM Josh Flynn.
Fantilli, along with all the other CBJ prospects, who are in town for development camp, are also at tonight’s Columbus Crew Soccer match at Lower.com Field. Per several fans in attendance, a nice loud “CBJ” chant broke out after Fantilli was shown on the big screen. This town is going Fantilli crazy, and rightfully so. This fanbase hasn’t been this excited over a draft pick since 2002, so they deserve it.
This just feels like a continuation of last summer when the CBJ signed Johnny Gaudreau and Patrik Laine. No, last season didn’t go as expected, but with the signings of Gaudreau, Laine, Werenski and now Fantilli, there’s definitely something cooking on Irish Broadway.
