The Dallas Stars went into the last game of the season with one mission in mind: win. Dallas came into their regular season finale on Wednesday night tied for the franchise record for most consecutive games lost since moving from Minnesota in 1993. On top of the urgency to win, there was some positive news earlier in the day that Tyler Seguin would be activated off the long-term injured reserve list to play in his first game since Dec. 1st.
The top story going into tonight's final regular season game in Nashville for the Stars was that Tyler Seguin would finally make his way back into the lineup after he has been sidelined sine receiving hip surgery on Dec. 5th. Fans did not have to wait for Seguin to make his mark on the game, as the 33-year-old forward assisted alongside Matt Duchene to set up Mason Marchment for the opening score 16 seconds into the 1st period. That would ultimately be the highlight of the game for the Stars, as the Predators would go on to score five straight goals in the final act of the regular season.
The Dallas Stars have now lost seven-straight games, a mark that they have yet to hit since moving to Dallas in 1993. When Stars fans figured their team would reach a franchise milestone this season, losing the most games since relocating was definitely not in the cards. The Dallas Stars will look to turn it around this weekend as they will face off against division rivals the Colorado Avalanche in the opening round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs. The series will face two teams with different recent forms of success as the Avalanche are looking for a second Stanley Cup in three years, while the Stars will be searching for their first since 1999.
