The alarm bell is officially sounding in Dallas. The Stars dropped their fifth-straight game last night to the Utah HC, their fourth in a row at home. With a playoff matchup looming in the first round against the Colorado Avalanche, could the Stars be at risk for an early playoff departure?
What was supposed to be a joyous night in their last home game of the regular season, turned into an almost somber event as the Stars stayed on the ice following a 5-3 loss to pay homage to the crowd. Things looked to be turning around at the jump as the Stars got on the board first after Roope Hintz found Wyatt Johnston in the slot for the one-timer on the man advantage. Utah HC would answer back before the period was over. That would be the theme for the next two goals before Utah HC netted home two unanswered goals to ultimately play spoiler on the final home game in Dallas.
Not only has the way the Stars have been losing games as of late been a cause for concern, but also the level of opponents they have loss to. Three of the five losses have been to teams that will not be playing the postseason tournament. In the losses, the Stars have been thoroughly outplayed. The Stars will not have much time to turn things around in the remaining regular season, as they will hit the road in matchups against the Detroit Red Wings and the Nashville Predators. Afterward, the Stars will jump into the deep section of the playoff pool, potentially matching up against the Colorado Avalanche.
While Dallas Stars fans should be counting out their boys in green, the current streak that the team is on ranks four out of 10 on the panic scale. The Stars can very well rever back to their winning ways once the action kicks off on April 19th. Be sure that head coach Pete Deboer, and Jaimie Benn will have their team ready to go when the sweepstakes for the Stanley Cup kicks off.
