Former Dallas Stars goalie Jack Campbell has entered the NHL and NHL Players Association's Player Assistance Program. And the popular Campbell has many people in his corner.

Longtime NHL goaltender, former Dallas Stars netminder and current Detroit Red Wings netminder Jack Campbell has entered the NHL and NHL Players Association's Player Assistance Program, the league announced Friday.

The 32-year-old Campbell -- who joined the Red Wings this summer after spending the past three seasons with the Edmonton Oilers and their AHL team -- spent his first five professional seasons with the Stars' American League affiliate. Campbell played one game for the Stars before he was traded to the Los Angeles Kings in 2016, and he's played 176 NHL regular-season games with the Stars, Kings, Toronto Maple Leafs, and Oilers.

Campbell was well down the Red Wings' depth chart at the time the announcement was made Friday. But he's generally regarded as a very popular member of any dressing room he's been part of, and he'll no doubt have many people cheering him on as he experiences the Player Assistance Program. Campbell can work toward getting healthy without worrying about his place with the Wings, and that's a positive thing.

Here's wishing Campbell a happy and safe return to the ice when he's ready and fully healthy again.
