The Dallas Stars continue to inch ever closer to the conclusion of the regular season, and they picked up another set of points Monday night in their third meeting with the Minnesota Wild. The Wild came into the contest looking to extend their winning streak to four games. That streak was snapped as Dallas goaltender Jake Oettinger stopped all 32 of the shots he faced to take home his second shutout of the season.
The Stars are going into the final weeks of their season with nothing but Stanley Cup aspirations. As everyone knows, the warmup to the playoffs starts now, and the Dallas Stars have shown nothing less than a championship pedigree as of late. Monday's win marks the sixth win for Dallas in their last 10 games. It was also the quality of the win that stood out on Monday, as Dallas stonewalled Minnesota throughout the game. Despite putting up 32 shots on goal, while boasting a 51.5% face off output. Goaltender Jake Oettinger was the driving force behind the defensive showing, he shut down every attempt the Wild threw at him. The highlight of the Oettinger's night came at 18:03 in the 2nd period, as the Minnesota native flashed some leather on a glove save to shut the door on Wild forward Marco Rossi. The Stars would go on to take home the 3-0 win to push their season points total to 94.
The Stars will be on the hunt for a handful of points as they embark on a West Coast trip that takes them through Edmonton, Calgary, and Seattle before kicking off April with a home matchup against the Predators.
