Matt Grzelcyk could be a much-needed addition for the Stars at the trade deadline

The Dallas Stars will be facing a slew of decisions this upcoming trade deadline season as news broke the other day of top blue liner Miro Heiskanen went down for the foreseen future with a knee injury. Heiskanen was forced to leave Tuesday's affair with the Vegas Golden Knights after forward Mark Stone lost his edge and fell into the defenseman's knee. The Stars will now be without two very important cogs in the playoff machine, as Hieskanen now joins Tyler Seguin with a long-term injury.
The Dallas Stars will most likely designate Tyler Seguin and Miro Heiskanen to the LTIR list, freeing up a little over $2.2 million in cap space for the upcoming deadline. Dallas will most definitely look to solidify their back end after the aforementioned injury to Hieskanen, and the more recently banged up Nils Lundkvist. The enticing option that can plug the defensive hold is Penguins blue liner Matt Grzelcyk. The Pittsburgh Penguins currently sit second to last in the Eastern Conference and will be sellers at the deadline. Grzelcyk has 27 points, with a lack of fear of throwing his weight around. The veteran defensemen is in the last year of his currently contract that carries an AAV of $2.75 million.
The Stars have a first round pick available, and will more than certainly be shopping that pick to prospective teams. The NHL Trade Deadline comes to an end on March 7th.
