Logan Stankoven snapped a 25-game goaless streak with a multi-goal showing against the Maple Leafs on Tuesday night.
The Dallas Stars went into their Tuesday matchup in Toronto looking to start up a new winning streak after their seven-game win streak was snapped in a previous loss to the Ottawa Senators. They went into the Scotiabank Arena hoping to also snap their losing streak to the Maple Leafs, in which Dallas hadn't come up victorious against Toronto since February 2020. Another streak that was in play to be snapped was the scoreless streak of Logan Stankoven. The Dallas youngster had not scored a goal in 25 straight games, and was eager to break that in the Star's last game of the road trip in Canada.
Logan Stankoven has been in one of the longest scoreless streaks of his very young NHL career. Often times, it is normal for a young player to play outside the boundaries of his game in order to produce. That was not the case in Tuesday night's game in Toronto, as the 21-year-old forward made it a point to crash the net early and often. This method of approach proved to be fortuitous, as Stankoven would eventually snap his goaless streak with a game tying score at 8:33 into the 1st period. His was night was not done there, as he would deflect Matt Duchene's shot past Maple Leafs goaltender Joseph Woll for his second of goal of the game, sealing Dallas' 4-1 victory.
Logan Stankoven and the Dallas Stars will look to extend their streaks to two games as they will face off against the Montreal Canadiens on Thursday at the American Airlines Center. Dallas will look to complete their season sweep of the Montreal, after picking up a 2-1 shootout win in their last matchup.
