The Dallas Stars have gotten a head start on the NHL offseason by resigning veteran forward Matt Duchene. The Stars announced on Thursday that both parties have finalized a four-year deal with an AAV of $4.5 million.
Matt Duchene is coming off a season in which he led the Stars with 82 points, while the team was ravaged with numerous injuries. The 82 points for the Ontario native would also mark a career high, while the Stars would make another trip to the Western Conference Final. The 34-yr old will be an important piece for the General Manager Jim Nill and the Stars this upcoming season as there are a multitude of question marks surrounding the roster with another failed playoff run in the rearview mirror.
Dallas Trio Highlight Preliminary Roster For Finland
The NHL will be sending their players back to the Olympics this upcoming winter after skipping over the two previous games. The preliminary rosters were announced earlier today, with the Dallas Stars having three players being named for Team Finland. This is no surprise as Mikko Rantanen, Miro Hieskanen, and Esa Lindell as the trio were selected to don the blue and white for their home country during the NHL's 4 Nations Face Off.
The NHL offseason is just in its infancy, as the NHL Draft will take place on June 27th in Los Angeles, while free agency begins on July 1st.
