    The day that the trial begins for the five members of the 2018 Team Canada World Juniors team, who are facing sexual assault charges.

    Current Dallas Stars forward Sam Steel may need to testify in that case.

    On Tuesday morning, former NHL players, Michael McLeod, Alex Formenton, Cal Foote, Carter Hart, and Dillon Dube all pleaded not guilty when they were read the charges against them.

    The Crown Attorney, Meaghan Cunningham, listed off the following players as potential witnesses for the case: Drake Batherson, Jake Bean, Taylor Raddysh, Brett Howden, Cale Makar, Maxime Comtois,  Boris Katchouk, Jonah Gadjovich, Dante Fabbro, Conor Timmins, Tyler Steenbergen, and (the aforementioned) Steel. None of these players is facing criminal charges.

    At the time of this writing, it is not known whether these players will need to testify in court or virtually. The case is expected to last at least two months.

    On Tuesday, the focus is on the selection of the jury, who will decide the fate of the five defendants.
