The season is nearing the end for the Dallas Stars which means the return of multiple players that have been injured. The Stars have been plagued with injuries this season, including several long-term injuries.
Head coach, Pete DeBoer, announced that Tyler Seguin was now taking full contact and that he is "knocking at the door" of returning.
Seguin played his last game on December 1 before having surgery on his left hip that put him out for the rest of the season with a projected return around the playoffs. This surgery is Seguin's second hip surgery, as he had the right hip done and missed the majority of the 2020-2021 season
Before the injury, Seguin was on a heater tallying 20 points in 19 games, including nine goals and 11 assists. Since the arrival of Matt Duchene, he, Seguin and Mason Marchment have been one of the best lines in hockey. After it was announced that Miro Heiskanen and Nils Lundkvist were out for the remainder of the regular season, general manager, Jim Nill, made a trade with the San Jose Sharks to acquire Mikael Granlund and Cody Ceci.
Since the trade, Granlund has been with Duchene and Marchment. It is unclear where the chips will fall when it comes to line combinations. If Seguin can return to form, all signs point to putting him back with Duchene and Granlund, but that line has still been producing with Granlund as well. Only time will tell if he gets a game or two under his belt before playoffs start.
