The Dallas Stars finished up their last regular season game last night against the Nashville Predators.
The Stars went into the game in Nashville on a six-game loss streak. Once it was determined they were no longer in the race to catch the Winnipeg Jets for first place in the Central Division, the Stars took to a new tactic. They decided to rest Thomas Harley and Esa Lindell due to them taking on most of the work load with Miro Heiskanen's absence. This decision was made when the Stars were already on a loss streak and the team was trying not to panic about the state of their play.

However, it was made apparent that not only did they need to snap their win-less drought, they need to get back on the winning side for moral sake. This included putting Harley and Lindell back in the line up and foregoing resting any other players. And to be honest, with the depth that Dallas has, it would be hard to pick which forwarded they needed to rest and/or protect from injuries.
Unfortunately for the Stars, they could not make it through the final game without having more adversity thrown there way. Jason Robertson took what looked like a weak hip check from Michael McCarron. Robertson proceeded to leave the ice without putting weight on one of his legs. He did not immediately go down the tunnel, but eventually left the bench and did not return to the game.
Robertson was seen leaving the arena with a knee brace on. After the game, head coach, Pete DeBoer, stated "the purpose of resting people down the stretch was to hopefully avoid injury and unfortunately we didn't do that with the Robertson injury."
The Stars did not have practice today and so there was no update on the status of the injury, but there should be something from DeBoer tomorrow. Robertson finished the season with 80 points in 82 games. There is no doubt that Robertson is a pivotal player for the Stars. If the Stars are now heading into the series against the Colorado Avalanche without Heiskanen and Robertson, they may be heading up stream without a paddle.
The Stars and Avalanche are set to meet for Game 1 in Dallas on Saturday at 7:30 CST.
