Mason Marchment is recovering after facial surgery.

The Dallas Stars have been without forward Mason Marchment for quite some time after he took a Logan Stankoven shot to the face during a power-play against the Minnesota Wild, and it appears it will be some time still before he returns.

There was a delay in figuring out exactly what damage had been done due to the swelling around the injury. Doctors had to wait for the swelling to go down, but head coach Pete DeBoer announced last night that Marchment did finally have surgery for the fractures in his nose and facial area. DeBoer said the orbital bone was not broken, but the timeline given was four weeks. Marchment is about a week into that recovery process.

Before the injury, Marchment had been on a tear and had been on pace to beat his career-high goals and points. He tallied 27 points in 33 games, including 12 goals. The Stars ultimately lost the game against the Wild in overtime, but since Marchment's absence, the Stars are remarkably on a five-game win streak. With the absence of Marchment and Tyler Seguin, Dallas is missing two of the three players on their best line of the early season, but have been able to find ways to win. The increased production of Jason Robertson and Roope Hintz has helped offset that loss recently.
