Tim Heitman-USA TODAY Sports - Stars Sign Finnish Forward to Entry-level Contract

Dallas Stars general manager Jim Nill announced Monday the team has signed forward Arttu Hyry to a two-year entry-level contract, to take effect in the 2024-25 season.

The 23-year-old native of Oulu, Finland, registered 14 goals and 17 points for a +19 in 55 regular-season games in 2023-24 for Kärpät in Liiga.

The 6-foot-2, 209-pound Hyry recorded 53 points (27-26-53) in 147 career regular-season contests with Kärpät from 2020-24. In 22 career postseason games, he notched five goals.

According to Elite Prospects, Hyry's speed is rated at 15, strength at 14, and shooting accuracy 13.

The Stars have a strong Finnish connection thanks to the success of Roope Hintz, (Nokia), Miro Heiskanen (Espoo), Esa Lindell (Vantaa) and Jani Hakanpaa (Kirkkonummi). Hintz, Heiskanen and Lindell were dubbed the 'Finnish Mafia' by Nill back in 2019 for their inseparable closeness on and off the ice.

Hyry was undrafted before signing with the Stars.
