The Dallas Stars go into another offseason searching for ways to bolster their roster. While hunting for new talent that fits into the roster, they will continue to toe the line of the NHL Salary Cap. The offseason rumor mill is already turning, as social media hockey pundits are already naming forward Jason Robertson as a potential trade chip to dangle in front of prospective buyers.
Should Jason Robertson Be on the Chopping Block?
The Dallas Stars have been the talk of the town with the several day break between the Western Conference Final and the Stanley Cup Final. Whether the narrative is that head coach, Pete DeBoer, should be fired for pulling Jake Oettinger in Game 5 or that the Stars are thinking about trading Jason Robertson for cap space, the rumors are spreading like wild fire.
The Stars are currently in the middle class of Stanley Cup Contenders, as they have finished on the outside looking in with a loss in the Western Conference Final. While falling short of a Stanley Cup Final appearance for the third-straight year definitely stings, it is not a cause to make rash decisions. With the Stars's season is just under a week old, the offseason rumor mill of prospective moves for Dallas is in motion, with the first being a potential scenario in which Jason Robertson is shipped out of town.
Jason Robertson was by far the best scorer for the Dallas Stars in the regular season, leading the team in goals, and finishing second in points. The numbers were not particularly impressive compared to other leading scorers, but one could make the case that could be due to a not so stellar supporting cast. When it boils down to who should stay in Dallas, and who should leave, Robertson most definitely ranks at the top of the list of most deserving.
There will definitely be more chatter as to how General Jim Nill should put together his roster this summer as the offseason trucks on. One thing is for certain, Jason Robertson will be in Dallas when training camp rolls around.
