The Dallas Stars currently find themselves ahead after the Western Conference Final kicked off on Wednesday night. The Stars came out of the gates of their series guns blazing as they out played the Edmonton Oilers, 6-3. Dallas not held Edmonton's stars in check, they also received help from one of their own, Tyler Seguin. Coming into Wednesday's Game 1 matchup, Seguin was riding an 11-game scoreless streak that he broke with a pair en route to victory.
Three Special Teams Takeaways From Stars 6-3 Game One Win
The Dallas Stars came roaring back from a 3-1 deficit with five third period goals en route to a 6-3 win in Game 1 of the Western Conference Final against the Edmonton Oilers.
The Dallas Stars has failed to receive consistent scoring on a game-to-game basis throughout the Stanley Cup Playoffs. Besides Mikko Rantanen, the scoring carousel of Stars scorers spins on a nightly basis. While some might view this as a positive thing, there has been games where the well has dried up, and it becomes even more evident that the Stars are in need of a secondary scorer to compliment Rantanen. Game 1 of the Western Conference Final showed that Tyler Seguin could be well on his way to being Robin to Ratanen's Batman.
If you asked Tyler Seguin going into the Western Conference Final if he was desperate for a goal, the answer would probably would have been "no". The look on the veteran's face when he netted the game-tying goal in the first period would tell you otherwise. Seguin would eventually notch two more points, one of which would come via his second goal of the game in the 3rd period.
Stars Must Avoid Woeful Power Play Stat from Previous Oilers Series
The Dallas Stars are a different team for this year's rematch of the Western Conference Final from 2024 against the Edmonton Oilers for a multitude of reasons, but one miserable special teams statistic from last season has to be avoided at all costs.
With the 33 yr-old on the verge of starting a hot streak, the Stars will definitely look to Seguin to continue his scoring ways as they will aim to counter the two-heading threat that is Leon Draisaitl and Connor McDavid. The Stars will look to capture a 2-0 series lead before the series heads to Edmonton on Sunday. If the Stars intend on not only taking a series lead, as well as advancing to the Stanley Cup Final, they will certainly need Tyler Seguin to bring some of his playoff magic that led to a Stars victory.
