The latest episode of THN Detroit's podcast

The latest episode of THN Detroit's hit podcast The Silky Mitten State is live!

This week, it's an eclectic show, beginning with some reactions to Vladimir Tarasenko and Patrick Kane's press conferences from earlier in the week.  We discuss the journey's duo from long-time Central Division rivals to teammates, as well as the multiplicity they afford the Red Wings top six.  From there, we move into a somber discussion of the posthumous diagnosis of former Red Wing Greg Johnson with CTE, and the NHL's continued refusal to acknowledge the connection between long-term brain trauma and playing hockey.

After that, we engage in a lively discussion of free agent loyalty from teams and fans, with Steven Stamkos' departure from Tampa and arrival in Nashville.  We discuss the responsibility of general managers to weigh the emotion around a particular player with long-term competitiveness, as the Lightning's Julien BriseBois has clearly just made a ruthless such evaluation on Stamkos.  To wrap, we bounce around on Red Wings prospects, categorizing them by their distance from the NHL.

As ever, you can check out the show on Apple Podcasts or Spotify:
