The Red Wings television home is changing. Here's what you need to know

Per reporting from Tony Paul in The Detroit News, Bally Sports Detroit—which broadcasts Detroit Red Wings games, in addition to the Tigers and Pistons—is in for an imminent re-brand to the FanDuel Sports Network.  Per Paul, the change could happen as soon as Monday.

The good news is that the deal should be minimally invasive for present Bally subscribers, whether through traditional television or streaming.  As Paul points out, when push comes to shove, this latest development for Bally and its financially bereft parent company Diamond Sports Group is closer to a naming rights deal than a true ownership change.

No Bally Sports Detroit content will change, nor will the channel numbers on which it appears.  Red Wings fans will still be able to enjoy Ken Daniels at play-by-play, Mickey Redmond as his color man, and Trevor Thompson between the benches.  Instead, per Paul's reporting, the biggest change customers are liable to confront is cosmetic: with Bally's red color scheme replaced by a new FanDuel blue.

Paul also points out that there is no indication that Ilitch Sports and Entertainment (which owns the Red Wings and Tigers) will follow the lead of a few ownership groups around North America in putting together their own bespoke broadcast network.
