The latest episode of The Silky Mitten State is live!
On this episode, my co-host Connor Earegood and I dive into another busy week for the Red Wings, but before we do, we reflect on the PWHL's visit to Detroit. We discuss the atmosphere, the physicality, and excitement that last Saturday's game between PWHL Ottawa and Boston brought.
From there, we pivot into last night's win over the Islanders, focusing on the cascading impact of Dylan Larkin's return following an eight-game absence. In particular, we highlighted the way Larkin's return to the lineup cast Detroit's depth players into the correct slots in the lineup for what amounted to the team's best victory of the month by a great deal.
From there, we discuss the impact of the Red Wings third line—Christian Fischer, Andrew Copp, and Michael Rasmussen—a unit that has come back together and delivered outstanding results in the last week with a simple, forecheck-heavy game that always seems to be driving toward the net.
We also got into Simon Edvinsson's encouraging performances since being called up before Tuesday's game, Jonatan Berggren's window seeming to close in Detroit, the present state of the goaltending room with Alex Lyon and James Reimer struggling, and also the way Lucas Raymond has only continued to flourish since we gushed about him last week.
