The Detroit Red Wings have a lot of youth. After years of sub-par results, they accumulated prominent draft picks and developed into fantastic prospects.
Those fantastic prospects are turning into great players. Some of them are becoming elite.
Simon Edvinsson and Moritz Seider are two young defenders who were top 10 draft picks for the organization. Any team would be over the moon to have one of them.
The Red Wings are incredibly fortunate to have both.

Together, they have formed the go-to pairing for the Red Wings to throw over the boards when their opponents' top players are out. The numbers that back this up are incredible.
Edvinsson and Seider have played against Elite competition for 50.7 and 50.4 percent of their total ice time. Put another way, they play half of every game against the Sidney Crosby's, Connor McDavid's, and Nikita Kucherov's of the league.
Edvinsson is 21-years-old, Seider is 23-years-old.
Further, they have played the most minutes against Elites among all the league's defenders. Here are the top five:

There is no way to understate Seider and Edvinsson's value on this team. To have two players under 25 who can handle this type (and volume) of deployment is nothing short of eye-popping.
