Tonight, the Detroit Red Wings will host the Los Angeles Kings. Here's what you need to know ahead of tonight's game at Little Caesar's Arena.
After yesterday's Red Wings practice, coach Derek Lalonde indicated that he was leaning toward trotting out an identical lineup to the one he used Thursday against the Edmonton Oilers.
The two potential wrinkles there are that Lalonde did indicate that Klim Kostin is close to being back to full health after getting injured in mid-December and that Justin Holl (a healthy scratch Thursday) would likely fold back into the lineup for at least one leg of the weekend back-to-back, with the Red Wings in action again tomorrow night in Toronto.
Last week in Los Angeles, Detroit took a 4-3 shootout decision over the Kings.
It wasn't exactly a dominant performance from the Red Wings, but it was another strong performance from Alex Lyon, while Robby Fabbri played an excellent game for Detroit, before Patrick Kane and Lucas Raymond put on a veritable clinic in the shootout.
However, it's worth noting that all season the Kings have been a significantly better team away from Crypto.com Arena than at it. At home this year, Los Angeles is 7-7-5, while on the road, the Kings are an outstanding 13-3-3, which is to say victory will be even harder to come by tonight for the Red Wings than it was a year ago.
Tonight's game (a 7:00 PM) start will be on its familiar home of Bally Sports Detroit. For out of market fans, it will be in its usual homes of Hulu and ESPN+.
