The latest episode of THN Detroit's hit podcast The Silky Mitten State is live!
On this week's show, my co-host Connor Earegood and I discuss another week of mounting stakes and massive swings in the Red Wings' quest for the wild card. We start by discussing the mixed results Detroit's depth forwards provided in the Red Wings' last two games, before moving into a conversation about Alex DeBrincat and Patrick Kane's recent form. We get into the way Kane can turn from invisible to decisive in an instant, while also taking stock of DeBrincat's struggles with scoring in the months of March and April so far.
We also get into Simon Edvinsson's contributions in recent games and the way he's bolstered Detroit's defense corps at what is clearly a critical point in the season. Here, we also consider some comments from Capitals coach Spencer Carbery about the overall depth of the Red Wing blue line.
Finally, we close the show by previewing this week's men's Frozen Four in St. Paul, pitting Michigan and Boston College as well as Denver and Boston University in Thursday night's semi-finals. We break down both match-ups in detail, wade into the peculiar orthographical history of Denver going by DU and the University of Denver, and make some predictions.
