The Detroit Red Wings are already severely shorthanded during this most critical stretch of the season, having lost their top two centers in Dylan Larkin and Andrew Copp to lower-body injuries.
Now, they've announced even further injury troubles.
Prior to Saturday evening's matchup with the Dallas Stars, head coach Todd McLellan has announced that forward Michael Rasmussen is expected to miss at least a week.
Not only that, but rookie Michael Brandsegg-Nygård is also considered day-to-day.

Because of this, the Red Wings have once again recalled forward John Leonard, who played nine games for Detroit earlier this season, from the AHL's Grand Rapids Griffins.
"We lost Ras for probably a week at least, and Brandsegg-Nygård is out day to day," McLellan said following the morning skate. "We continue to take on the chin a little bit up front, but the recalls, the guys that have come in, have actually provided us with some energy."
"They're excited about being here, and they've given us a little bit of a spark...but that's the deck we're dealt right now, and that's what we have to deal with."
It's been a struggle offensively for Rasmussen the last several weeks, as he's not registered a point since scoring on Jan. 5 against the Ottawa Senators, a span of 25 games.
