Red Wings sniper Alex DeBrincat is rewarded for a busy week with the NHL's third star of the week recognition

For what was meant to be a break, it was a busy week for Detroit Red Wings sniper Alex DeBrincat.
First, on Wednesday, he played in his 500th NHL game in the Red Wings' 3-2 OT loss to the Ottawa Senators. From there, he jetted off to Toronto for the NHL's All-Star Game, where he scored three goals and gave three assists—steering Team Matthews to victory and a million dollar prize.
Then, on Monday came the biggest prize of all, when his wife Lyndsey gave birth to the couple's second child, Maverick, joining older brother Archie, who accompanied DeBrincat in Toronto for the All-Star festivities.
After all that effort, DeBrincat—who ranks second on the Red Wings in goals, assists, and points at 18, 25, and 43—was named the NHL's third star of the week.
Auston Matthews of the Toronto Maple Leafs—who pipped DeBrincat for All-Star MVP honors—was the first star of the week, while Connor McDavid of the Edmonton Oilers—whom DeBrincat stripped the puck off then hit the empty net to clinch All-Star victory—was the league's second star of the week.
DeBrincat previously picked up first star of the week honors back in October, for a spell in which he scored five goals and provided three assists across four Detroit victories.
