While his situation with the Detroit Red Wings has yet to be resolved, Dylan Larkin was recently on the golf course with Detroit Lions stars Aidan Hutchinson and Amon-Ra St. Brown.
With each passing day, the chances of Dylan Larkin having to report to Detroit Red Wings Training Camp without having his highly public trade request granted grow larger.
It goes without saying that if Larkin does, in fact, begin the upcoming season as a member of the Red Wings, it could make for a very awkward first few home games at Little Caesars Arena in terms of fan reception.
There is a large portion of the Red Wings fan base who feels betrayed by Larkin, a true homegrown talent from metro-Detroit who attended the University of Michigan and eventually became the 37th captain in club history.
In the meantime, Larkin is staying loose on the golf course with a few notable members of the Detroit Lions - fellow former Michigan Wolverine Aidan Hutchinson and top wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown.
Larkin even brought his gold medal won with Team USA in the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics in February, and let St. Brown wear it.

Larkin, who has completed three seasons of an eight-year pact that he signed in 2022, requested to be traded shortly after the Red Wings failed to make the Stanley Cup Playoffs for the 10th straight campaign.
To date, Larkin has only played five postseason games, and they were all in his rookie campaign of 2015-16. Meanwhile, he's gotten a taste of success, helping Team USA come in second place during the 2025 Four Nations Face-Off, along with winning the gold medal earlier this winter.
But weeks after reaching the ultimate glory on the international stage, Larkin and the Red Wings once again faltered and fell short of reaching the postseason. Not only did he request a trade, but the Red Wings announced a major leadership transition in mid-July that saw Steve Yzerman vacate his role as GM.
Training Camp is less than one month away, and if Detroit's next general manager is unable to find an adequate trade return for Larkin, he'll have no choice but to make the best of an awkward situation and report.
