From The Silky Mitten State, Rasmussen-Copp-Fischer reunited and thriving on Detroit's third line

With Dylan Larkin back in the fold, the Red Wings forward group looks re-invigorated and Detroit's playoff hopes have been renewed. But while Larkin is the Red Wings' obvious centerpiece, Detroit's third line of Michael Rasmussen, Andrew Copp, and Christian Fischer has also been vital to the team's
The third line starred in the Red Wings' 4-1 win over Buffalo, after which Fischer—who has three goals in the last week—discussed the pride the unit takes in owning a difficult defensive match-up.
"Newsy grabbed us three before the game and said that we were gonna match-up the whole night with them," said Fischer. "Us three, we play a very rugged, north-south type of hockey game. We love that stuff. I can speak for the other two: we want the big match-up every night. I think that's just the way we are as players. To shut down the top guys, the statistics speak for themselves."
Meanwhile, Derek Lalonde pointed out that Fischer is a universally beloved figure in Detroit's dressing room for his relentless effort and reliability.
"The guys love Christian," Lalonde said. "He plays the right way. Obviously, they had the Thompson assignment tonight, and their job was not to get scored, and for them to get a goal the way they did—second effort, zone time, below the goal line—[was] very up-lifting."
Meanwhile, Andrew Copp, who has been counted on more for defense than attack throughout this season, scored twice to help propel the Red Wings past the Islanders on Thursday.
