When it's the "dog days of summer" for hockey fans, the players' personal lives become amplified. That's one of the reasons why there is so much hype for Edmonton Oilers' superstar Connor McDavid to tie the knot later this July.
On the other hand, there are anniversaries swirling around too. One impressive milestone was reached by someone Oil Country knows well.
Sam Gagner took to Instagram to celebrate his 10th anniversary with wife Rachel Gagner.

Gagner wrote the caption, "10 years and we couldn't be happier. Love you." Being married to one person for 10 years is a huge commitment. With how short celebrity marriages appear to last, it's good to see people together for a considerable amount of time.

Gagner joined the Oilers on a PTO this past offseason. Once he had recovered from his injury he signed a one-year deal. He played in 28 games for the 2023-24 season. He registered five goals and 10 points while averaging 10:12 of ice time per game.
Gagner's future with the Oilers is murky right now. If he wants to come back as a player he might need to sign another PTO to earn a position with the club.

He could also consider a different role with the club. His hockey intelligence and professionalism are qualities that the organization may choose to keep around in a player development capacity.
