He's back. Maybe.
That's right; Connor McDavid could be returning to the Edmonton Oilers' lineup on Wednesday against the St. Louis Blues. The Oilers' captain has missed the past eight games with a lower-body injury after leaving their game against the Winnipeg Jets on March 20th.

According to Edmonton Sports Talk's Tom Gazzola, McDavid "has a few people to convince first," while Sportsnet's Mark Spector clarifies that McDavid will participate in warmups before he and the team make their decision.
Of course, if it were up to McDavid, he'd be in the lineup. He's made a habit of blowing past injury timetables and returning in record time throughout his career, as he did earlier this season. He's missed 14 games to injury and suspension this season, by far his highest total since suffering a broken clavicle in his rookie year.

While the Oilers could certainly use McDavid--especially with their precarious injury situation--they need to be sure not to rush him back. They've been cautious with this current injury, letting him rest as much as possible before the playoffs start. But with their team shorthanded once again, the Oilers will be hard-pressed to keep their captain out of the lineup.
With or without McDavid, the puck drops between the Oilers and St. Louis Blues at 8:00 on Wednesday night.
